When I had to put down my elderly cat Buddy back in 2015, I began spending time visiting the cats at the local SPCA. This led to fostering a cat and her three kittens. (It also led to shelter volunteering.) Miles and I bonded almost immediately.  As much as I wanted to adopt him, I felt duty-bound to complete the fostering process. However, that sense of duty went out the window when Miles spent the entire trip back to the shelter screaming at me from the door of the carrier. I adopted him the next day and became yet another "foster failure." We've been inseparable ever since.

Snapshots
As Miles and his littermates began to explore their surroundings, Miles quickly discovered that my foot was a warmer spot to perch than the bathroom tiles.
Miles was the first to explore the living room, despite his mamma's efforts to keep him in their "den" (my bathroom closet). He was also the first to scale the ladder of pillows to join me on the sofa.
Miles soon graduated from the top of my foot to my shoulder.
Some of my favorite snaps of Miles, including the very first shot I took with my first "real" camera.
